History: | "A proposal to collectively name Musser Lake, Big Dardis Lake, Duroy Lake, Elk Lake, Long Lake and Wilson Lake, Chain-O-Lakes, was submitted by the Wisconsin Board on 8 January 1954, and again on 29 August 1958. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) rejected the proposal on 9 April 1959, based on the fact that all the lakes were not connected by the same watercourse, therefore, not a true group of ""chain lakes"". " |
